A few days ago, I spring $4.50 for a large Starbucks Mocha with an extra shot of espresso and sat down to enjoy it. Somewhere during the relaxation of drinking that cup of coffee, I noticed there was a lot of writing on the side of the cup. As I began to read, I couldn't believe the boldness of this company. Here's what it says on the side of my starbucks cup:
Evolution as described by Charles Darwin is a scientific theroy, abundantly reconfirmed, explaining physical phenomena by physical causes. Intelligent Design is a faith-based initiative in a rhetorical argument. Should we teach I.D. in America's public schools? Yes, let's do -- not as science, but alongside other spiritual beliefs, such as Islam, Zoroastrianism and the Hindu idea that the Earth rests on Chukwa, the giant turtle.
When I paid this company nearly five bucks of my hard earned money, was I also paying for them to mock belief in God creating the earth? What is the point of this really? I want my $4.50 back.
